Bridal shower photo sharing: how to collect your guests’ photos with a QR code
Published October 26, 2026 · By the Guest.Gallery team
At a bridal shower, the bride is busy opening gifts, playing the games and talking to everyone, so she takes almost no photos of her own shower. Her guests take plenty. This guide shows how to gather their photos and videos in one place with a QR code: why they go missing, how to set it up, sign wording you can copy, how the shower fits with the wedding, and how to download everything afterward.
Guest.Gallery is our own service, and it costs money. The steps are the same whether the shower is at home, at a restaurant or in a rented room, and whoever is hosting it.
Why guest photos go missing at a bridal shower
A shower is smaller and shorter than a wedding, but the photos scatter the same way:
- There’s often no photographer. Many showers don’t have a hired one, so the guests’ phones are the only record of the day.
- The gift opening. Everyone films the bride’s reactions, from several angles, and each clip stays on a different phone.
- The games. The laughs during the games are quick, candid moments. Guests catch them; the host, busy running the game, doesn’t.
- Several generations in one room. Grandmothers, aunts, future in-laws, college friends and coworkers each take their own pictures, and they’re rarely in the same group chat.
- The details. The table, the cake and the decorations the host spent weeks on are photographed by the guests, not by the host.
Afterward, the photos are spread across camera rolls, texts and social media stories. Messages often compress photos and videos, and stories disappear. One shared place, reached from one code, keeps them together.
How to set it up, step by step
- Create the event. Choose a plan, then add a name, such as “[Name]’s bridal shower”, and the date of the shower. That date decides when uploads open and how long they stay open.
- Print a sign and a few cards. Your event comes with a QR code you can print on cards. Put a sign at the entrance or by the gift table, and a small card at each place setting or on the dessert table. Print one first, scan it with your phone and check that it opens your event.
- Add the code to the invitation. If you send printed or digital invitations, add the code or the short link so guests know about it before they arrive.
- Mention it before the gifts. The gift opening is when many guests pick up their phones. Ask them just before to add their photos and videos afterward. There’s wording for it below.
- Send the link with your thank-you. Guests who didn’t scan at the shower can still add theirs from home.
The wedding QR code guide has more tips for printing and testing the cards.

When to open uploads, and how long they stay open
Uploads can open up to 14 days before the event date, so you can test the code ahead of time and the bridesmaids can add photos from the planning. After the shower, uploads stay open until the archive date shown in your account: up to 3 months after the event date on Basic, and up to 12 months on Premium.
Basic includes 25 GB shared between photos and videos. Premium has unlimited uploads, subject to fair use for private events, which our terms describe as up to 100 guests and an expected allocation of up to 1 GB per guest. Compare the plans to see which fits your shower.
Two things to keep in mind:
- Check the event date before uploads open. Once they’ve opened, the date can’t be changed.
- Send one reminder a few days after the shower, with the same link. Many guests upload once they’re home and have time to go through their camera roll.
The shower and the wedding: one gallery or two?
The plan period follows the event date you choose, and uploads can open up to 14 days before it. A shower is often weeks or months before the wedding, so it usually works best as its own event, dated the day of the shower, with its own QR code. If the shower falls within the 14 days before the wedding and the couple already has a Guest.Gallery event for the wedding, guests can add their shower photos there once uploads have opened.
If you’re hosting the shower for the bride, the event is yours to manage: after the shower, download everything and give her the files. For the wedding itself, how to collect wedding photos from guests compares seven ways to do it, and Guest.Gallery for weddings shows how the same QR code works at the reception.
What your guests see
Guests scan the code with their phone’s camera, and your event’s upload page opens. They pick photos and videos from their phone and add them to the shower gallery. They don’t install an app or create a login, which helps when the guest list runs from the bride’s grandmother to her college friends. On an iPhone, the code may open an App Clip, a small part of an app that opens without being installed. If the signal is weak, guests can upload later from home: the photos stay on their phones until they do.
Downloading everything afterward
From your event admin, you can download all the photos and videos as one ZIP file. We keep the original files your guests uploaded during your plan period. The previews in the gallery may be optimized, but the download contains the originals. For a large event, preparing the ZIP can take 30 minutes or more, so download it on a computer, with time to spare, well before the archive date. Then keep a copy somewhere else, such as an external hard drive, because the gallery isn’t meant to be a permanent archive.
Questions and answers
Do guests need an app to share bridal shower photos?
No. Guests scan the QR code with their phone’s camera and upload photos and videos without installing an app or creating a login. On an iPhone, the code may open an App Clip, which opens without being installed.
Should the bridal shower and the wedding share one gallery?
Usually not. Uploads open up to 14 days before the event date, and a shower is often weeks or months before the wedding, so give the shower its own event, dated the day of the shower. If the shower falls within the 14 days before the wedding and the couple already has an event, guests can add shower photos there once uploads have opened.
I’m hosting the shower for the bride. How does she get the photos?
Whoever creates the event manages it and downloads the photos and videos. After the shower, download everything as one ZIP file and give the bride the files.
Can guests upload videos of the gift opening?
Yes. Guests can upload both photos and videos. On Basic, the 25 GB is shared between photos and videos, and long videos take up the most space. Premium has unlimited uploads, subject to fair use for private events.
How long can guests keep uploading after the shower?
Until the archive date shown in your account: up to 3 months after the event date on Basic, and up to 12 months on Premium.
How do we get all the photos and videos afterward?
From your event admin, download everything as one ZIP file with the original files your guests uploaded. For large events, preparing the ZIP can take 30 minutes or more. Download it before the archive date and keep your own backup.
Make it part of the plan
Put the QR code on the shower checklist next to the invitations, the games and the cake, and the photos your guests take will end up in one place for the bride. Check the current plans and prices below, or find more guides.
